1771-KA

The Allen Bradley 1771-KA is a PLC 2 Communication Adapter Module. It interfaces with PLC processors to the Data Highway Plus Module which extends the functionalities of PLC processors, allowing them to exchange data among themselves and with other RS-232-C devices. The 1771-KA creates a larger automatic manufacturing network by integrating all single PLC processors. One Data Highway cable can handle a maximum of 64 separate programmable processors and computers up to 10,000 feet (3,048m) apart. It is compatible with various PLC 2 processors. The 1771-KA module has a recommended communication rate of 9.6k baud for program interface port, 57.6k baud for data highway port and 91.2k baud for processor port. It has a maximum power supply requirement of 5V D at 1.2A. Compatible power supplies for this module are 1771-P1, -P2, -P3, -P4, or P5. The 1771-KA can be installed in any slot in the 1771 I/O chassis except furthest left to data highway. Key Band positions for correct installation are between pins 4 - 6 for the lower connector and pins 22 - 24 for the upper connector. Communication channels are connected to the processor or first module in daisy chain formation and to the programming terminal or second module in the daisy chain. The 1771-KA module is made for operation in a clean and dry industrial environment with a 0 – 60 °C (32 – 140 °F) operating temperature, 5% to 95% (without condensation) relative humidity, and 30g operating shock.
