The 1771-KF2 module is a data highway communication controller module that is manufactured by Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation as part of the PLC 5 module series. It is a standalone mounting module that uses the Allen-Bradley 1771-P2 power supply module with an electrical rating of 1.2 Amps at 5 Volts DC. This module is an electronic device that designed and intended to link either point-to-point or multi-drop and RS-232 intelligent devices to the data highway network. The Allen-Bradley 1771-KF2 module links the RS-232-C devices together via a multi-drop or point-to-point configuration. For the point-to-point configuration, the module links only one RS-232-C device through a master-to-slave or peer-to-peer link to the data highway network. It also features the DH and RS-232-C communication ports which help in connecting various devices with the RS-232-C port to the data highway.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-KF2 data highway communication controller module operates in a temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius at a non-condensing ambient relative humidity range of 5 to 95 percent. When it is not in use, it should be stored in environments with temperatures ranging between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. The 1771-KF2 data highway communication controller module comes with a data Hhghway communication speed of 57,600 bits per second as well as a 110 to 19,200 bits per second switch-selectable RS-232-C communication rate. This module utilizes 3 specialized cables which are the 1770-CD data highway drop-line cable, the 1770-CP modem interface cable, or the data terminal interface cable. The operators can use the multi-drop configuration to connect the module’s multiple data highways via a set of modules.
