1771-KG

The 1771-KG PLC 2 RS-232-C Communication Adapter Module by Allen-Bradley is a module which interfaces with compatible intelligent RS-232-C devices and PLC 2 processors to provide direct communication with a computer and most intelligent programmable devices. The 1771-KG also provides peer-to-peer links with most communication modules, and it can connect with a communication controller module for peer-to-peer links with other devices on the data highway. The 1771-KG adapter module has an RS-232-C communication port for connection to RS-232-C devices and it can communicate with compatible devices via the full-duplex (peer-to-peer communication) protocol or the half-duplex (master-slave communication) communication protocol.

It communicates at a selectable rate of 110 bits/s, 300 bits/s, 600 bit/s, 1200 bits/s, 2400 bits/s, 4800 bits/s, 9600 bits/s, or 19.2 KB per second. The 1771-KG is installed in any slot of the 1771 I/O chassis, and the module draws a backplane current of 1A. It has a functional temperature ranging between 0 and 60 oC (32 and 140 oF) at a 5-95% non-condensing ambient relative humidity, and it is stored at a temperature range between -40 and 85 oC (-40 and 185 oF). The 1771-KG module is keyed by connecting the top connector of the module between pins 4 – 6 and between pins 22 – 24.
