The 1771-M1 module is an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation stepper controller module. It is available from the Allen-Bradley PLC 5 series for applications in PLC 5 controller systems. The 1771-M1 stepper controller module makes up a complete stepper motor positioning assembly along with a wiring arm and a pulse output expander module. It is suitable for use in 1-axis and 3-axis machine applications. The 1771-M1 stepper controller module should not be used in the same chassis as another stepper controller module or have another stepper controller module installed in its chassis because this can cause machine and system errors.

The 1771-M1 Stepper Controller Motor Module by Allen-Bradley is an integral component of the Stepper Motor Positioning Assembly (1771-QA), which allows for programmable control of most of the stepper motors in a Programmable Controller, and a single 1771-M1 stepper controller module can conveniently control and manage up to 3 pulse output expander modules. The 1771-M1 is installed on the 1771 I/O chassis and occupies a maximum of 1 chassis slot, and the module draws 1.75A maximum backplane current supplied by the I/O chassis. The 1771-M1 can manage one expander module per axis, and in total, it can control a maximum of 3 expander modules per 3 axes, and the entire module is keyed to the I/O chassis by connecting the module’s top connector between pins 2 and 4, and between pins 8 and 10. The 1771-M1 has a very wide operating temperature range of 5-605 oC (325-1405 oF), with a relative humidity rating of 5-95% without condensation, and it is stored at a very wide temperature range of -405-855 oC (-405-1855 oF).
