The Allen Bradley 1771-NIV1 is a low-noise, high-resolution module from the 1771-N module product family designed for interfacing with PLC5, PLC-3, and PLC-5/250 controllers. The 1771-N series modules achieve high resolution and accuracy by their use of 16-bit ADCs and 14-bit DACs. 1000V of isolation between channels prevents noise and other transients on any channel from affecting any other channel. The 1771-NIV1 is supplied with eight voltage input channels which are rated for ±10V and the module consumes 1.2A from the I/O backplane.

The voltage inputs for the 1771-NIV1 are made for a ±10.5V (±42mA, with a resistor) operating range, a 330µV/bit (15 bits with a sign bit) resolution and an impedance greater than 10megaohm. A maximum time of 9s is required by the module to detect an open input, and the rating for overvoltage protection is 140V AC RMS (continuous). The bandwidth range for the 1771-NIV1’s input signals is 9 Hz and the time required for updating per module is a maximum time of 25s. ±35 ppm/°C is the specification for gain drift whereas ±30µV/°C is the specification for offset drift. Specifications for under-voltage and overvoltage are -10.4V DC and +10.4V DC respectively. Specifications for calibration values are 0.0000V/10.0000V. The 1771-NIV1’s normal mode ratings for 50 /60 Hz are 50 dB / 60 dB and the typical value for common mode is 150 dB.

The manufacturer recommends using the 1771-NIV1 with the RTP-4 and also recommends removing I/O chassis power prior to module installation or servicing. The power dissipation specification for the 1771-N1V1 is 6W. The module performs optimally in industrial environments with temperatures ranging from 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F) at 5 - 95% humidity (without condensation).
