The Allen-Bradley 1771-OAN output module is an AC output module which is available from the PLC 5 product line. It is a source type of output module and it needs to be connected to a sink input module to operate. The 1771-OAN AC output module is rated for 120/240 Volts AC voltage. This AC output module can be used in all non-hazardous environments and in Pollution Degree 2 rated hazardous environments. The 1771-OAN AC output module is made to be installed in an Allen-Bradley 1771-A1B chassis or a later version of this chassis, and it supports 1-slot addressing with restrictions or half-slot addressing with no restrictions.

The 1771-OAN is an Allen-Bradley discrete output module that is compatible with the PLC5 product family. This module is a High Density output module with Thirty-Two (32) channels having 1.0A per channel, 2.0A per group and 8.0 per module.

This module has Four (4) groups of Eight (8) channels each. This module may only be installed with 1771 chassis such as 1771-A1B thru A4B. or later 1771 I/O chassis. The operating Voltage category of this module is 120 / 240VAC with a Voltage range of 85 to 264 VAC at 47-63 Hz.

This module is basically a 32-bit module where each channel represents a bit of the processor memory. Compared to other output modules, the module’s output current is higher which can be used to drive electrical loads.

The front panel of this module is provided with 32 LED indicators with each indicator representing 1 channel. This is a visual indicator that may aid in troubleshooting as the output energization may be confirmed through this LED array.

Each output group of this module has internal fuses which may be replaced when damaged. Typically, when the fuse is damaged, the entire group is non-responsive while the other 3 groups remains operational. This isolation is practical I/O segmentation feature which may be used in planning the output allocation.

The Allen Bradley AC Output Module 1771-OAN comes with 32 outputs and a voltage range of 80 to 265 Volts AC. The operating frequency of this module is 47 to 63 Hertz while the maximum surge current at 1 Hertz and .5 Hertz for 25 milliseconds lies at 10 A. This unit’s minimum load current is 1.0 mA per output; the maximum on state voltage drop is 1.5 Volts AC RMS at 1 A, while the maximum off state leakage current is 2.3 mA per output at 230 Volts AC, and 1.2 mA per output at 120 Volts AC. The Power Dissipation of this module is 16.2 Watts maximum and 1.0 Watts minimum with a thermal dissipation of 55.4 BTU/hour at maximum and 3.4 BTU/hour at its minimum. This unit has a maximum backplane current of 800 mA at 5 Volts of DC power. Generally, while operating, this unit will keep a temperature between -13 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit (-25 to 60 degrees Celsius) while its non-operating temperature normally fluctuates between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to 85 degrees Celsius). Additionally, this module can keep a relative humidity of about 5% to 95% without condensation. The operating vibration of this module is 2 g at 10 to 500 Hertz; its shock, (operating and nonoperating), is 30 g. This module is regarded as Industrial Equipment Class 1, Class A in accordance with Publication IEC/CISPR 11. Due to disturbances (both conducted and radiated), there can be potential difficulties when ensuring electromagnetic compatibility unless appropriate precautions are taken.
