The Allen-Bradley 1771-ODZ is a PLC 5 Digital AC Output Module. It is an earlier version of the 1771-OD module and it has the same specifications. It includes the necessary isolated circuitry to control the on/off status of various user devices such as solenoids and transformers. It is directly controlled by the corresponding bits state in PLC data table. It has 8 image bits per module and it supports ½, 1, and 2-slot addressing. The 1771-ODZ contains surge suppression circuitry to suppress the high-voltage transients coming from the AC line. It can replace the 1771-OZ and the 1771-OA with a resistor and the 1771-IA with interlocks. The 1771-ODZ Series A module has 8 (4 sets of 2) isolated outputs with 120V AC voltage category. It has an operating voltage range of 92 – 138V AC and a backplane current load of 350mA. It has a maximum continuous current per output of 2A and maximum current per module of 6A. Its typical signal delay is 1ms from Off to On-state and 8.3ms from On to Off-state. The 1771-ODZ has a maximum power dissipation of 11.4W and maximum thermal dissipation of 38.9 BTU/hr. It has a 1771-WD wiring arm to replace modules, eliminating the need to disconnect wiring. It is mounted in a 1771 I/O chassis containing a PLC processor with keying bands for correct installation between pins 4-6 for the lower connector and pins 34-36 for the upper connector. The 1771-ODZ module has 16 status indicators at the front of the module. The top 8 red indicators show the status of each output and the bottom 8 orange indicators indicate a blown-fuse condition. It also includes optical coupling and filtering for reducing the signal noise.
