The Allen-Bradley 1771-OW16K is an electromechanical relay contact output module with 16 outputs and conformal coating. It is a reliable model that can be used in environments exposed to humidity and contaminants such as acid, ammonia, chlorine, and nitrogen. It must use a 1771-AM1 or 1771-AM2 chassis or 1771-A1B or later chassis. Without a surge limiting circuitry, surge limiting devices can be used to control capacitive, inductive, and resistive loads. The 1771-OW16K Electromechanical Relay Contact Output occupies one slot. It can be placed into any chassis slot except the leftmost connector that is reserved for adapters and processors. The correct key placement is crucial to avoid backplane damage and possible system faults. Position the key bands between pins 2 and 4, and between pins 32 and 34. These locations can only be changed if the subsequent system design makes it necessary to add a different type of module. To power the relay coils of the 1771-OW16K, it requires a maximum current load of 1.3 A from the power supply of the chassis backplane. This AC/DC module has a maximum continuous current of 1440VA for AC and 1280 W for DC. It has a switching frequency of 1/3 Hz at maximum load. Its operate/release time is at 10 ms maximum, 5 ms (+1 ms). Plus, it has 16 LED status indicators that light-up to signal whenever the corresponding relay is energized.
