The Allen-Bradley 1771-PT3 cable is a fiber optic cable that is supposed to be used with industrial programming systems. This fiber-optic cable belongs to the Allen-Bradley 1771 series. This fiber optic cable by Allen-Bradley features a duplex cable which is indoor-rated. The cable is 150 meters long (492 feet). The 1771-PT3 cable is non-conductive and dielectric. This simply means that the cable comes already protected from electromagnetic signals or noise which could affect it. The cable also has two fibers and it has a diameter of 100 meters. It also features a 1.845 feet per pound resistance rating. A splice connector by Allen-Bradley is necessary for the connection of two fiber-optic cables.

Operators should not worry about physical installation because it is easy. Some difficulties may be encountered when these connectors are used while consulting the DB loss budget. This is because the connectors have a tendency of increasing the dB losses of the fiber-optic link. Placing the cable in a polythene conduit is very important when the installation of the 1771-PT3 fiber-optic cable is performed underground. Conventional wirings can be the channel through which same conduits and wire ways of the 1771-PT3 optic cable can be routed. The operator should avoid installing the cable in ducts. The location in which the 1771-PT3 cable is being installed should also be safe. It should not be close to other units which could damage or crush it. The operator also needs to ensure that the fiber cable is not stretched out too much because this might cause increased attenuation. This is simply because the tensile strength of the 1771-PT3 optic-fiber cable is lower than that of other regular copper cables.
