The 1772-LXD processor is a PLC 5 mini-processor designed and developed by Allen-Bradley. It is the brain of a programmable controller. The PLC 5 processor has a backplane requirement of 1.25 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The current rating of the processor is 0.8 to 0.4 Amps. The running frequency of the processor is 50 to 60 Hertz. The rated output of the processor is 4 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The processor requires no external power to operate. The typical AC signal delay is 29 milliseconds and the typical DC signal delay is 30 milliseconds. The 1772-LXD processor is equipped with a key switch, an onboard serial port, status indicators, and communication ports. It also comes with a connected programming terminal where Channel 1A is configured for DH+ communications. It uses the high-speed serial link and data highway plus link for faster connectivity. The status indicator on the processor shows both normal operation and error conditions in the processor system. The 1772-LXD processor has a conformal coating on the outer layer.
The 1772-LXD processor comes with different features, including a selectable timed interruption, a memory protection switch, a fast input/output scan process, user-selectable PROM/RAM backup, 3 KB of memory, and expanded mathematics functions. The processor does not include a mode select switch. The processor is equipped with a sensing device which can detect changes in the machine’s condition. The 1772-LXD processor can store 198 messages with PLC support. It uses 488 timers. The processor is equipped with a battery which provides backup power. The memory of the processor is divided into 3 major sections which are the data table memory, the user program memory, and the message storage area memory. These store input statuses, output statuses, and the program instructions and messages.
