The Allen-Bradley 1784-KR module is a module which enables IBM XT and AT compatible computers to communicate over Allen-Bradley DH-485 networks. The 1784-KR module is a half-slot module that can be installed in any expansion slot (except the J8 slot) on an IBM XT or AT compatible computer. The 1784-KR modules enables the IBM XT or AT compatible computers to communicate with Allen-Bradley SLC-500 programmable controllers over DH-485 links. All the IBM XT or AT compatible computers with the 1784-KR module can also communicate with a single SLC-500 device via a point to point cable link.

The 1784-KR module provides 500 Volts DC isolation voltage between the PC and communication cable to protect the PC. The 1784-KR module is compatible with the IBM XT/AT systems, Compaq Deskpro 386 systems, and the Allen-Bradley T50, T35, 6120, 6121, and 6122 systems. The output connector on the 1784-KR module is a 6-position terminal block header. There is an RS-485 output on the module. The hardware interrupts supported by the module include the IRQ2, IRQ3, IRQ4, and IRQ5 interrupts. Baud rates supported by the 1784-KR module include 300, 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, and 19,200 baud. The maximum line length is 4000 feet. The module power requirements are 1.8 Amps at 5 Volts DC. The operating temperature range for the module is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.
