The Allen-Bradley NetLinx 1784-KTX card is a communication interface card. The shipment from the manufacturer should contain one communication card and one user manual. The 1784-KTX card is a half-sized ISA card which can be installed in a 16-bit ISA or EISA slot. The 1784-KTX card must never be installed in an 8-bit expansion slot. There is one channel on the 1784-KTX card. The card also acts as a remote I/O scanner. The 1784-KTX card can act as a node on the DH+ or DH-485 networks and they can connect directly to PLC-2/PLC-3 controllers. The operating temperature range for the 1784-KTX card is from 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
When in storage or when in transport, the ambient temperature range should be kept between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit. The non-condensing relative humidity around the card should be between 5 and 95%. The vibration rating for the 1784-KTX card is 10 to 60 Hertz with 0.012 inches displacement. Before installing the card, the interrupt setting and base memory address of the card must be configured. The 1784-KTX card is based on CMOS technology and it is therefore sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD). Standard ESD precautions including grounding by touching a grounded object, the use of a grounded wrist strap, and avoiding touching connectors and components should be followed while working with the card. The card should also be kept in a static-shielded container when not in use and during transportation and when it is being returned for repair.
