The Allen-Bradley 1784-PCMC1 module comprises the Allen-Bradley 1784-PCMK card and the 1784-PCM6 cable. The PCMK card and the cable are used to make the communication processor interface module and to allow for Peer-to-Peer communication and the programming of the uploading and the downloading processes. The communication cable connects the 1784-PCMK card to a PC, ensuring continuous communication. The Allen-Bradley communication card permits the connected computer to interface smoothly with the other devices on the Data Highway Plus communication network. The 1784-PCMC1 module supports the DH-485 and the remote I/O networks. Note that the included PCMK card does not come with a termination resistor. Therefore, the users should practice caution when connecting the PCMK card at the end of the DH+ or the DH485 link.
When connecting the PCMK card to the computer, make sure to use the 2 wedges that come in the package. This is important to ensure that the connection cable is firmly attached because the communication cable could become disconnected without the wedges and the accidental disconnection can result in a damaged connector or even damage to the communication card. Since the PCMK card does not have a termination resistor installed, it is important that the users ensure that caution is taken when connecting the PCMK card to the end of the DH+ and the DH485 links.
