Allen Bradley's 1784-PKTXD is an efficient PCI Network Interface Card intended for use within PLC 5 systems. The design is compliant with Universal PCI 2.3 and supports a range of networks, notably DH+, RIO, and DH-485 (Channel 1 exclusively). This network card accommodates two independent communication channels.

For connections, Channel 1 includes both a 3-pin Phoenix connector for DH+/RIO and a 6-pin Phoenix connector for DH-485. Channel 2 similarly uses a 3-pin Phoenix connector for DH+/RIO communication. The data transmission over DH+ and RIO can operate at rates of 57.6, 115.2, or 230.4 kbit/s, whereas DH-485 supports rates between 1200 bit/s and 19200 bit/s.

Distance capabilities for DH+ and RIO are significant, allowing runs of up to 3048 meters at 57.6 kbit/s, 1524 meters at 115.2 kbit/s, and 762 meters at 230.4 kbit/s. Meanwhile, DH-485 can extend communications over a maximum stretch of 1219 meters (or 4000 feet). With an operational power draw of 800 mA at 5V DC (totaling 4.0 Watts), this card is designed to provide robust support in demanding environments.

The 1784-PKTXD also features high levels of surge immunity, boasting ±2 kV line to earth per IEC 61000-4-5 standards, along with EFT immunity of ±2 kV at 5 kHz following IEC 61000-4-4 standards. This ensures reliable, interference-free operation in various industrial applications, enhancing system durability and performance.
