The 1785-L20C processor module is an industrial ControlNet processor module from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20C PLC-5 is a ControlNet programmable controller and processor. It ships with a tray containing several tools for installing the processor, including a 1770-XYC lithium battery, 1 battery cover with a screw, 2 keys, 4 150-Ohm terminating resistors, 2 82-Ohm terminating resistors, 1 DIN rail connector cover, 2 3-pin connectors, and 1 1784-CP7 cable adapter. When installing the 1785-L20C PLC-5 processor, use an approved ground point, avoid touching the connector pins and the backplane connector, and keep the processor in its static-shielded container when it is not in use to avoid electric shock and damage to the processor.

The 1785-L20C has a red battery indicator light, a red/green RUN/FAULT indicator light, an amber force indicator light, a red/green ControlNet I/O indicator light, the red/green Channel 2 indicator light, and a red/green ACTIVE/FAULT Channel 0 Communication indicator light on the front panel. Its front panel also has space for memory modules, a battery compartment, a key switch for selecting the processor’s mode, and multiple channel ports.

The 1785-L20C is designed to work in an I/O chassis. Ensure that the chassis power is switched off before installing or removing the PLC-5 processor.

The 1785-L20C has a serial port, a coprocessor port, and a control coprocessor expansion port. It can support up to 512 of any I/O and 512 analog I/O. Its typical scan time is 2 ms per keyword and its I/O scan time per rack is 10 ms at 57.6 kbit/s, and it is 7 ms at 115.2 kbit/s. The 1785-L20C can support up to 16 MCPs.
