The Allen-Bradley 1785-L20E is a PLC5 processor. This module is a major component of the legacy PLC5 product category. The 1785-L20E has a built-in volatile memory that amounts to 16KWords, which is maintained by a Lithium battery with catalog number 1785-XYC. For backup and increased system availability, non-volatile memory back up devices may be installed such as 1785-ME16 with 16Kwords, 1785-ME32 with 32Kwords, 1785-ME64 with 64 Kwords and 1785-ME100 with 100Kwords.

The 1785-L20E’s embedded communication interfaces include One (1) DH+ dedicated interface, One (1) DH+/Remote I/O (Adapter or Scanner) combination interface, One (1) serial port that supports RS-232, 423 and RS-422A standards and One (1) Ethernet channel that supports 10/100 Mbps transmission speed.

The 1785-L20E supports installation of Thirteen (13) chassis, overall. This includes the local rack where the controller is installed and additional Twelve (12) racks that me be used as distributed I/O racks.

The 1785-L20E PLC -5/20E Ethernet/IP Programmable Controller by Allen-Bradley is a programmable controller with 16K word SRAM processor. The controller comes with 1 fixed Data Highway Plus (DH+) port with a 25-pin D-shell serial port, which supports standard EIA RS-232C and RS-423 for serial connection, and based 15-pin Ethernet/IP port with 10MB transmission speed, for connecting to devices on the Ethernet network.

The controller’s operating temperature is 32-140 degrees Fahrenheit at 5-95% non-condensing ambient relative humidity, and it will dissipate 65 BTU/hour of maximum heat when operational. The 1785-L20E controller can withstand a 30G shock, with 1G vibration at 10-500 Hertz when operational, and it is keyed in place via pins 40-42, and 54-56.
