The 1785-RC relay cartridge is a PLC-5 relay cartridge manufactured by Allen-Bradley. Its specifications are 0.2 Amps at 5 Volts DC backplane current, 120 Volts AC at 50/60 Hertz at 0.5 Amps pilot duty contact rating, a 0 to 60 degrees Celsius operating temperature, 2 G peak acceleration at 10 to 500 Hertz vibration rating, and it weighs 70 grams. The shock ratings of the 1785-RC relay cartridge are 25 G peak acceleration at 11 milliseconds duration (non-operating) and 15 G at 11 milliseconds duration (operating). This unit is intended for use with Allen-Bradley PLC-5/40B, PLC-5/60B, and PLC-5/80B controllers. The 1785-RC PLC-5 relay cartridge interfaces between a PLC-5 controller and an external device (for example, the Allen-Bradley 700P relay module). Its internal relay switches the 120 Volts of user-supplied voltage for use with an external device.

Status indicators for the external power, internal relay coil, and the internal relay contact status are available on the front face the 1785-RC relay cartridge. It features a removable 4-pin connector and the recommended wire type for installing the unit is 12 to 22 AWG solid, stranded, or fine-stranded copper wire with a minimum temperature rating of 75 degrees Celsius.
