The 1785-TR10BT transceiver is a twisted pair transceiver that has been designed by Allen-Bradley as an exclusive accessory for its 1785 series of programmable controllers. This transceiver enables the connection between a device and an AUI interface to a CSMA/CD LAN with a rate of 10 Mbits per second through a shielded and twisted cable. Other highlighted functions of this specific transceiver are its monitoring power, TxData, collision/jabber control, link-state along, and auto polarity exchange functions. The Allen-Bradley 1785-TR10BT twisted pair transceiver comes with an SQE test that can be disabled externally without the need for disconnecting the whole part. It has a low current consumption rating and a compact construction so it can be easily installed.

The Allen-Bradley 1785-TR10BT twisted pair transceiver provides an LED indication of data transmission and reception and of the detection of data collisions in the same network. Besides indicating status updates through an LED, this transceiver also can report these actions to the equipment. This transceiver also has a jabber control functionality that protects the network against heavy data packages. The Allen-Bradley 1785-TR10BT twisted pair transceiver has an operating voltage of 12 Volts that is sourced from the connected device via a 15-pin socket. The twisted-pair cable needs to be attenuated for proper installation. The slide switch on the top of the transceiver is also used to activate and deactivate the SQE test. One important fact to check before starting the transceiver is whether the connected device requires the SQE to be on or off, so that it can be prepared to start operations whenever required.
