The Bently Nevada/General Electric 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system is a vibration monitoring system. The system has 4 channels and it weighs 0.45 kilograms. The 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system is part of the General Electric 2201 family of system monitors. Note that a complete 2201 system is made up of a system monitor and a backplane that holds the monitoring system. Also note that a single 2201 system supports 4-channel system monitors. The 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system is interfaced with a PLC-5 programmable logic controller. The PLC-5 helps to centralize plant process data and machinery vibration data. Consequently, this reduces equipment, operating, and installation costs.
The Bently Nevada 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system, being a 4-channel monitor, accepts signals from up to 4 Bently Nevada transducers. Each of the channels supports the use of the PLC-5 programmable controller to monitor the shaft radial vibration, thrust position, and seismic vibration. Danger and alert alarms from the 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system are reported to the PLC-5, from which the necessary troubleshooting steps can be taken. However, since the PLC-5 is programmable, how it responds to these conditions will largely depend on how the controller was programmed for the specific application at hand. The 2201/ 03-01 monitoring system uses onboard status LEDs to monitor the functioning of each channel. For external interface machine troubleshooting, the front of the system monitor contains 2 buffered Keyphasor transducer outputs and the Static Data Interface (SDIX) which is an RS-232 connector with 9 pins and which is used to facilitate system troubleshooting. Additionally, it contains a Dynamic Data Manager Interface (DDIX) which is an RS-232 connector with 25 pins that helps in interfacing with a Bently Nevada DDIX communications processor.
