PLC-5-80E

The PLC-5-80E (1785-L80E) EtherNet/IP Programmable Controller by Allen-Bradley is an Ethernet-enabled programmable controller with 100K words user memory and an I/O capacity of 3072 (any mix or complementary) used in industrial location to control the processes of field devices connected to it. The PLC-5-80E is located in the leftmost slot of the 1771 I/O chassis and requires 3.6A backplane current 5V DC and dissipates 65BTU/hr heat when operational. The controller uses the 1770-XYC battery module and either the 1785-ME16, 1785-ME64, 1785-ME32, or the 1785-M100 memory modules with lithium battery backups. The PLC-5-80E supports the 8-point, 16-point, 32-point, and the 1771 intelligent I/O modules, and it has a maximum I/O scan time of 0.5ms for extended-local I/O adapter, 10ms for remote I/O rack at 57.6 kbps, and 3ms for remote I/O rack at 230.4 kbps transfer speed. The processor has a maximum user memory of 100K words SRAM and supports a maximum of 24 I/O racks, and a maximum of 65 I/O chassis link.

The processor addresses I/O hardware in 3 different modes, the 2-slot mode which address any mix of 8-point module, and a 16-point pair module, the 1-slot mode which addresses any mix of 8 and 16-point modules, and a 32-points I/O pair modules, and the half-slot mode supports any mix of 8, 16, and 32-points modules. The PLC-5-80E has 1 dedicated 15-pin EtherNet communication port, 2 Data Highway Plus (DH+)/Remote I/O (Adaptor or Scan) ports for connection to the DH+ network, and 1 RS-232-C, 422-A, and a 423-A serial communication port. It has an internal circuit clock with ± 5 min per month accuracy variation and it has a rated operational temperature range of 0-60° C (32-140° F) at 5-95% non-condensing humidity without de-rating. It can meet an operational shock of 30G and a vibration of 1G at 10-500 Hz without de-rating and is CSA, C-TICK, CE, and UL-certified. The PLC-5-80E weighs approximately 1.38kg (3lbs) and comes with an open enclosure.
