Allen Bradley Point I/O 1734 1734-485ASC

1734-485ASC

|

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1734-485ASC I/O module is a point I/O module. It has been designed and manufactured as part of the Point I/O 1734 series. The 1734-485ASC point I/O module can connect to either the RS-422 industrial network or the RS-485 industrial network. This module is meant to be wired with shielded cables because shielded cables will significantly reduce the electrical noise in the system that would otherwise disrupt network signals. Note that the 1734-485ASC point I/O module does not support a chassis ground connection on its removable terminal block like some of the other Point I/O 1734 series modules do.

The Allen-Bradley 1734-485ASC product is a Serial Interface Module. These ASCII modules have an impressionable DeviceNet interface to a variety of ASCII devices like RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422 ASCII. The product is mainly involved to provide the transmission connections to the ASCII device. The 1734-485ASC module connects to the RS-485 or RS-422 network. The 1734-485ASC module has been optioned with a shielded cable to cut down the effects of electrical discord. Only one side of the shield is grounded. If both ends of the shield are grounded then a fault may occur as the grounded shield on both ends may form a loop. In this context, it is suggested that the shield should never be connected to the general side of the logic circuit. So generally, the shield is grounded directly to the chassis. However, the connection of the latter is not accessible for the Allen Bradley product 1734-485ASC terminal removable block. The connection is made at the DIN Rail. The metal panel DIL Rail is mounted at the user’s Input-Output Interface.

The 1734-485ASC module comes with an RS-485 2-wire network or RS-422 4-wire network. The second end of the terminal cable is connected to the ASCII module using the appropriate places on the 1734-TB terminal block. It may be marked that the terminal has markings on the module case. The power may be switched on the device and the ASCII module. The ASCII module buffer sizes need to be set up. The general notes are 20 and 20 bytes.  Required parameters can be optionally setup in the configuration file as needed in the ASCII data if more than 20 bytes is required for receiving or transmitting of buffers. Also, the I/O message size can be modified as desired. For this reconfiguration to be done in the ASCII buffer size where the default value is located. The following procedure needs to be followed for sending data to the serial device connected. The data must at the initial stage be sent to the ASCII device. It is the ASCII module that must further transmit the data to the serial device. Through the Input-Output message terminal, the ASCII module transmits a serial of characters from the DeviceNet master to the serial device. It is only under the strict procedure that the received character string may be transferred to the serial device. The Transmit Character Buffer Length i.e. the number of bytes defined is received or the defined End-of-String Terminator character is detected and active. When either of the conditions is fulfilled the ASCII module saves and stores the string of value in the DeviceNet string data internal buffer memory and remits the same as output to the serial port.
