The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADN is a Point I/O DeviceNet communication module. It enables distributed I/O implementation by allowing Point I/O modules installed to its local bus and transfer I/O data via the integrated DeviceNet interface. This module supports DIN rail mounting and requires 24 Volts DC Input Voltage and a Field Side Power of 400 milliamps with an Inrush Current of 6 amps. This DeviceNet Adapter Module has a 1000 milliamps POINTBus Current.

The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADN belongs to the POINT I/O modules that is mainly used as for implementing Distributed I/O systems in an industrial application. Point I/O, including the 1734-AND have small and compact assembly which are DIN rail mounted and feature low density I/O capability.
The 1734-ADN is installed on the leftmost portion of a POINT I/O rack which serves as the as the adapter to transfer local POINT I/O data to the master controller in the DeviceNet network through the integrated DeviceNet communication port.
When installing this adapter, the adapter must be positioned vertically to the DIN rail. Apply firm pressure to the adapter while pushing it to the DIN Rail. The locking mechanism shall lock the adapter automatically. Attache the DeviceNet plug to the DeviceNet terminal and tighten the holding screw located on both sides of the DeviceNet terminal.
Configure the module by modifying the displayed numerals using the embedded thumbwheel switch located on the upper right side of the module. Valid address are o to 63. When configured at this address, the module uses the address stored within the non-volatle memory as default address when the module is powered up. The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADN POINT I/O DeviceNet Adapter Module is an interface device for communicating with POINT I/O modules. The 1734-AND resides simultaneously on both the primary DeviceNet network and the Subnet network. The PointBus or POINT I/O backplane maintains network protocols and also features configuration capabilities. This adapter is a part of the Bulletin 1734 POINT I/O Series of modules. Install the 1734-ADN communication interface vertically in front of the DIN rail prior to mounting the other base units. This adapter also serves an ideal replacement for other DeviceNet modules in a POINT I/O system. On power-up, a self-test checks various program and internal memories, including the status indicators (LEDs). The ADR (Auto Device Replace) feature automatically transfers the downloaded values of the configuration parameters from the removed device to the replacement module. The backplane baud rate, subnet I/O module addresses and primary DeviceNet network should be set and configured for the 1734-AND adapterto work efficiently with DeviceNet masters. The Autobaud detects network baud rate to set a matching adapter rate that ranges from 125Kbaud, 250Kbaud, 500Kbaud, and up to 1Mbaud (1000Kbaud).

The Allen-Bradley 1734-ADN is a POINT I/O DeviceNet Adapter Module. It has 23 Volts DC Input Voltage and a Field Side Power of 400 milliamps with an Inrush Current of 6 amps. This DeviceNet Adapter Module has a 1000 milliamps POINTBus Current.
The 1734-AND is a communication adapter compatible with DeviceNet communication networks. However, DeviceNet is a proprietary software that is not as user friendly as Ethernet. Compared to 1734-AENT, this adapter module is more compatible especially that Ethernet is becoming the default communication protocol because of its user friendliness and simple configuration.
