The 1734-ob8sk is part of the PointGuard I/O module by Allen-Bradley. This is a safety module that is ideal for use in distributed safety architecture. It comes with Eight (8) safety sourcing outputs that generate an output voltage range of 19.2 - 28.8 VDC with a nominal output of 24 VDC. Each output channel of the module is rated 1.0 A, max per output @ 40 °C (104 °F); 500 mA, max per output @ 55 °C (131 °F); 8.0 A, max per module @ 40 °C (104 °F); 2.0 A, max per module @ 55 °C (131 °F). The 24 VDC output channels of this module can be pulse tested for detection of wiring short circuits. The 1734-ob8sk has solid-state output channels, operable in single or dual-channel mode. With Single-channel mode, this module is compatible for use in applications rated safety Category 2, and applications that are rated up to and including Performance Level d/SIL CL2. With dual-channel mode, the module is allowed for use in safety Category 3 and 4, and applications that are rated up to and including Performance Level e/SIL CL3. The 1734-ob8sk has a backplane current consumption of 125 mA @ 5VDC with an isolation voltage rating of 50V (continuous), Basic Insulation Type, between field side and system however, this module does not come with individual channel isolation. It has an operating temperature of -20 °C to +55 °C (-4 °F to +131 °F), the storage temperature of 55 °C (131 °F) with open style enclosure.

The 1734-ob8sk output module is a safety I/O module from the Allen-Bradley Point I/O 1734 series. This safety module is designed to distribute safety I/O in a safety control network and it meets the requirements of the SIL CL3 and PLe Cat. 4 standards. The 1734-ob8sk module is compatible with standard GuardLogix controllers, Compact GuardLogix controllers, and with SmartGuard controllers. It also supports both DeviceNet and Ethernet networks. To use the DeviceNet network, the 1734-ob8sk safety output module needs to be configured for it with the RSNetWorx network configuration tool. To use the Ethernet network, this safety I/O module needs to be configured for it with the Logix Designer application which is the GuardLogix programming tool. The Allen-Bradley 1734-ob8sk safety output module comes with 8 outputs that are all safety sourcing types of outputs. The 1734-ob8sk safety output module can operate in a dual-channel mode or in a single channel mode. The dual-channel mode supports redundant control with 2 channels or output signals, and the single-channel mode supports control with just 1 channel or output signal. Additionally, the outputs in the 1734-ob8sk safety output module can be pulse tested to detect short circuits in the field wiring that are rated at up to 24 Volts DC. This module can support a separate field bus power supply, but this is not required. It is conformally coated and compatible with an 8-point termination base.
