The 1400-DCU communication card is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation to operate with Allen-Bradley Panelmonitor 1400 series display graphics terminals. The 1400-DCU communication card is manufactured to operate a jumper block that lets the users select which operating mode they want to use. The possible operating modes are the RS-232C operating mode and the RS-485 operating mode. The users can see which operating mode the 1400 display terminal and the 1400-DCU communication card are currently using on the front panel or by removing the 1400-DCU communication card and examining which position the jumper block is currently in. The card and its host display terminal are sensitive to static, so the users must wear anti-static wrist straps when servicing, removing, or replacing the communication card.
To replace an old Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1400-DCU communication card with a new one, the users must disconnect all the power from the host display terminal, remove the 4 screws that hold the communication card's mounting plate in place on the back of the terminal, remove the mounting plate and the old communication card, fit the new card into place, and screw the mounting plate back in place on the back of the terminal with the 4 mounting screws. The 1400-DCU communication card has a Class 2 Energy Limited energy class rating. The Baud rate of the communication card ranges from 300 to 19,200 Baud for both the RS-232C and the RS-485 operating modes. The 1400-DCU communication card can handle a variety of communications connections that allow it to connect to different machines and share data with them.
