The Allen-Bradley 1404-M405A-ENT is part of the Power monitor 3000 that is part of the larger product catalog of Power Monitoring and Management Products. This device is specifically a Master module with built-in functionalities such as three-phase metering, pulse input conversion, setpoints, I/O, and data logging capability. It can be used as an alternative to Power Meters for the implementation of Power monitoring systems. The 1404-M405A-ENT is capable of measuring and calculating a variety of electrical parameters such as Voltage, Current, Frequency, Kilowatt, Apparent Power (kVA), Reactive Power (kVAR), Demand Functions (kW, kVA), and Energy Functions (kWH, kVAH). The metering capability of this device has an update rate of 55-80 ms. Voltage and Current are sensed in all three input phases. The 1404-M405A-ENT comes with an Ethernet communication interface which enabled the 1404-M405A-ENT to directly interface with a variety of electronic devices including PLC-5E, SLC 5/05, ControlLogix Ethernet Bridge controllers, and the 1761-NET-ENI module products. It comes with an embedded web server to allow configuration over a standard web browser. Through Ethernet, users can also view real-time metering data with a 100 ms update rate even logged data may also be accessed with 250 ms update frequency. The 1404-M405A-ENT also comes with a built-in status input via contact closure. It is also installed with a control relay KYZ output with maximum load switching of 10 A at 250V (2500V A) at 50/60 Hz frequency or 10A at 30V and 0.25A at 250V DC input voltage.

The other applications that the 1404-M405A-ENT Powermonitor 3000 module is well suited for are operating indication, status indication, data monitoring, and display module functions for command issuing, device setup, and device configuration. Its display module has 2 lines that it can display text and numeric values on and it can be controlled by 4 arrow keys. The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1404-M405A-ENT Powermonitor 3000 module includes a shielded 4-pair cable that is 10 feet long and that can be used as both a power cable and as a serial communication cable. It should not be replaced by a cable that is longer because cables that are more than 10 feet long may not be efficient enough for the 1404-M405A-ENT Powermonitor 3000 module and its applications. It operates safely and efficiently in the temperature range of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius or 32 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit, and it can be kept in storage in the temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit.
