The Allen-Bradley 1404-M405A-RIO module has a remote I/O port for communication which allows for the concurrent use of another communication port (in other words, it allows for dual-port option), and this port is the RS-485 communication port. The remote I/O communication port has various communication features, including 3 rated settings for communication that are 230.3 Kbps, 115.2 Kbps, and 57.6 Kbps, and the Allen-Bradley 1404-M405A-RIO module has a 32-node capacity, 3048-meter (10,000-feet) maximum cable lengths, 11 discrete outputs, 2 discrete inputs, block transfers with minimum update rates of 50 milliseconds, discrete I/O with update rates of 5 milliseconds, all data access for the read/ write block transfer data tables, and a quarter of the rack slave devices.

The Allen-Bradley 1404-M405A-RIO PowerMonitor 3000 module has -RIO at the end of the catalog number that means that the module has a logical quarter rack of I/O, which requires the users to configure the RIO communication rate, RIO rack address, RIO last rack status, and the RIO rack address.
