The Allen-Bradley 40BY1-4000 Photoswitch Light Source is an individual replacement part for a 2-piece LED light switch that is known as the Type 22DJ9 Model 4000 lightswitch from the Allen-Bradley Series 4000 line of LED modules. This light source is also compatible with the Model 500 photoswitches. The Allen-Bradley 40BY1-4000 Photoswitch Light Source emits an LED light beam that is constantly captured by a remotely located receiver module known as the 47BU1-4000 receiver module. When a solid object blocks the emitter light beam, the system will detect that intrusion and switch its state, proceeding to perform the pre-defined operation assigned by the users.  All of the programming is configured in a different control module from which the 40BY1-4000 Photoswitch Light Source is energized.

The Allen-Bradley 40BY1-4000 Photoswitch Light Source comes from the factory in a sealed plastic bag, which contains mounting nuts and the product’s installation and operation manual. The Allen-Bradley 40BY1-4000 Photoswitch Light Source is easy to install by using any compatible supporting structure or even a punch hole in a typical industrial panel board because it only comes with 2 wires that connect the Photoswitch to the base module. Common industrial, commercial, and building automation applications for this light source include the detection of objects, the inspection of spaces, counting items, positioning equipment or products, sorting pieces or parts, and starting and stopping other application processes. Calibration is an important part of working with this type of photoswitch device because it works in conjunction with a receiver module.
