1783-BMS10CGN

The Allen-Bradley 1783-BMS10CGN is a Stratix Ethernet I/P managed switch. This ethernet switch features a total of Ten (10) Ethernet ports with Eight (8) Fast Ethernet (FE) Copper ports and Two (2) Gigabit Ethernet (GE) ports. This Ethernet switch may be used for implementing industrial architecture with increased level of security and resiliency.

It is powered by an external 24VDC supply voltage with a power consumption of 15 Watts @ 24V DC/ 40 °C (104 °F) with maximum consumption of 20 Watts. It has a power dissipation of 20 Watts. The 1783-BMS10CGN has an integrated alarm relay with contact rating of 1 A @ 30V DC or 0.5 A @ 48V DC. The combo ports which supports Gigabit Ethernet (GE) may be installed with Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver, used for fiber-optic layer. It may also be installed with a 1784-SD1, used for saving the ethernet switch’ configuration and convenient transfer of configuration to other similar managed ethernet switch.

For Ethernet connection, recommended wire assembly is RJ45 connector according to IEC 60603-7 and Two (2) or Four (4) pair Category 5e minimum cable according complying to TIA 568-B.1 or Category 5 cable according to ISO/IEC 24702. For terminating signal wires to the alarm relay, recommended wire size is 0.5-0.8 mm. sq. or 20-18 AWG solid or stranded, UL/CSA-rated style 1007 or 1569 twisted-pair copper appliance wiring material (AWM) wire, 6.3 mm (0.25 in.) ±0.5 mm (0.02 in.) strip length. For DC power connection, appropriate wire size is 0.5…0.8 mm sq. or 20-18 AWG solid or stranded copper wire with insulation rating of 75 °C (167 °F) or greater, and maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm (3/64 in.) with strip length of 6.3 mm (0.25 in.) ±0.5 mm (0.02 in.).

There are a total of 10 ports on the 1783-BMS10CGN switch. Eight of these ports are copper (RJ-45) ports and they support Fast Ethernet. Two of the ports are combo ports and they support both copper and fiber connectivity. The network speed supported by the combo ports is Gigabit Ethernet. The 1783-BMS10CGN switch comes in an open enclosure which is rated with the T4 North American temperature code. The weight and dimensions of the 1783-BMS10CGN switch are 3.05 pounds and 5.1 x 3.6 x 5.345 inches, respectively. The 1783-BMS10CGN switch works with DC input voltages between 12 and 48 Volts DC. The current consumption of the switch ranges from 0.5 to 2 Amps. The typical power consumption of the 1783-BMS10CGN switch is 15 Watts which can go up to a maximum of 20 Watts. The maximum ambient temperature which the switch can tolerate is 60 degrees Celsius. At higher ambient temperatures, the switch performance will degrade and the switch can also be damaged.
