The Allen Bradley 1783-ZMS16TA is a baseline model of the ArmorStratix 5700 series of Industrial Ethernet Switches. Designed for harsh environments, this 16-ports layer 2 managed switch has an IP67 casing with M12 D-code female ruggedized copper connectors suitable for Outdoor/Factory Field installation. It can be used to interconnect Field level sensors and actuators with Ether/IP connectivity to PLCs, Controllers or even higher level supervisory SCADA/DCS or Enterprise networks.

The ArmorStratix 1783-ZMS16TA is IP67 certified, meaning it is tightly sealed against humidity, fine dust or even high pressure water showers and can work in a wide ambient temperature range from -40 degrees Celsius up to 60 degrees Celsius, eliminating the need for ventilation or temperature conditioning arrangements.

The 1783-ZMS16TA can be managed easily by IT professionals through a popular Cisco IOS CLI interface, either remotely or locally through the serial Console port. It can also be managed and maintained by Automation Professionals through its tight integration with Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture ®.The 1783-ZMS16TA has Predefined Logix tags to aid in diagnostics and troubleshooting. Replacement for the 1783-ZMS16TA device is greatly simplified via an SD card storing entire switch configuration. In case of switch failure, simply install an SD card from the failed switch into replacement switch.

To ensure more reliability, The ArmorStratix 1783-ZMS16TA can be powered by either single or dual independent DC power supplies. The switch draws power from whichever DC source has a higher voltage. If one of the two power sources fails, the other continues to power the switch. The user can set the 10/100 copper ports to operate at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps, full-duplex, or half-duplex. You can also set these ports for speed and duplex auto-negotiation in compliance with IEEE 802.3-2002. The default setting is auto-negotiate.
