The Allen-Bradley 1403-CF050 Synchlink Fiber-Optic Communication Cable, is a Pre-Configured Synchlink Communication Cable assembly which links devices to the Synchlink (a fiber-optic communication link that allows its users to implement distributed motion and drive systems). This cable is made of 50 meters pre-terminated 200-micron HCS (Hard Clad Silica) cable segment, and it offers a 5 Megabytes transmission rate on any supported topology (star and daisy-chain topology). The 1403-CF050 confers electrical insulation as well as immunity from electromagnetic interference, and it is suitable for transmitting data through hazardous locations. It also helps in the transmission of data over a maximum distance of 50 meters, and it has a lightweight which is a major advantage over traditional copper media.
The 1403-CF050, like all fiber-optic cable, consists of a buffer and an outer coating which protect the core fiber strands from damages, a middle cladding material which provides internal reflection for light pulses to travel, and a core cylindrical glass fiber which transmits data in the form of light pulses. The 1403-CF050’s core is made with a 200-micron core fiber diameter, with <12 decibels per kilometer of attenuation, and an outer cable diameter of 2.2 millimeters. This cable is designed to provide 5/22 N-m of maximum long-term pull tension, with a maximum breaking strength of 34/151 N-m, and a minimum bend radius of 15 millimeters. The 1403-CF050 has an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 degrees Celsius, with a storage temperature range of 40 to +85 degrees Celsius, and it has an approximate cable weight of 6.1 kilograms per kilometer.
