The Allen-Bradley 1403-DMA is a high-voltage display module for the Allen-Bradley 1403 Master Module. The 1403-DMA acts as an input device that is used to optionally configure the master module if the users intend to change the standard factory configurations. To enable the programming, the 1403-DMA has 4 buttons plus a display screen to help users view the configuration values. The display module operates with either an AC or a DC power supply. When on AC the 1403-DMA has a voltage rating of 120 or 240 Volts AC and when operated by a DC supply, the high voltage display module accommodates 125 or 250 Volts DC.
The 1403-DMA high-voltage display module is interfaced with the 1403 Master Module through a fiber-optic cable (serial) which should have a maximum length of 1650 feet and a minimum length of 10 inches. Additionally, the fiber-optic cable should not have a bend that results in an inner radius of less than 1 inch in order to avoid irreversible damage to the cable. The master module can accommodate a maximum of three display modules. The 1403-DMA Display Module has less strict guidelines on the placement direction and alignment than other modules. On the master module, the 1403-DMA Display Module is meant to be placed on the designated mounting panel which has a 2-inch-deep installation enclosure. To firmly hold the 1403-DMA in place, 4 M4 nuts which must be used together with a lock washer are required. The 1403-DMA has an IP65 International Protection rating which can be voided by the improper installation of the module on the master module.
