The Allen-Bradley 1403-NENET is an Ethernet communication card that is microprocessor-controlled. The communication card is meant to be interfaced with the Powermonitor II module, adding 3 communication ports to the Powermonitor module. The 1403-NENET card is capable of connecting to SLC-5/05 and PLC-5 Ethernet processors. The 1403-NENET has built-in capabilities for accessing the internet. The web capabilities are accessed through a browser by feeding the address of the Powermonitor II module (IP address) in the address box.
The 3 communication ports on the 1403-NENET card are a 10BaseT port, a 10Base5 port, and an RS-232 port. For the proper functioning of the Ethernet communication card, Â the Internet Protocol (IP), Physical Ethernet Port (PEP), Subnet Mask, and Gateways must be provided and configured correctly using the Master Module. The 1403-NENET features four LED indicators (RDY, LK, RX, TX) which assist in troubleshooting and monitoring. While handling the 1403-NENET, the electrostatic discharge should be properly compensated for to avoid physically damaging the master module and the card. As with other Ethernet communication cards, the 1403-NENET can be configured using the RS-232 port on the card or by using the display module. The RS-232 serial port is used to connect the 1403-NENET to a computer after which the hyper terminal or any other communication application is run aiding in the setting up of the baud rate of 38,400, 8 data bits, and a single stop bit. The parity and flow control parameters are left blank. An RJ-45 cable is used to interface the 1403-NENET with an Ethernet hub through the 10BaseT port.
