The Allen Bradley 2706-A42C is a DL10 message display which has a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) and dimensions of 14.4 x 6.2 inches. It is available in a four-line configuration with a parallel port and it can display up to 20 characters per line. It runs on 240 Volts AC at 50 Hertz and a maximum power consumption of 55 VA. The 2706-A42C is designed to receive slave addresses, message triggers, and variable data from an SLC or PLC module. For communication, it has an RS-422 port for file transfer and an RS-232 port for file upload and download. It displays a wide variety of symbols and characters that are readable from 25 feet away.
The 2706-A42C message display has capabilities such as dynamic message chaining, invisible messages, data trigger modes, etc. Parallel data lines allow it to accept 5 to 30 Volts DC and 120 Volts AC power. It performs self-testing and diagnostics during power-on and it has autorun features. Messages can be configured or entered manually by attaching an external keyboard, CRT monitor, or any extra terminal. It has a real-time clock that keeps current dates and times.
