The Allen-Bradley 2706-B11J8 is a Dataliner DL20 message display that has a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) with dimensions of 14.4 x 14.4 inches. It is available in a one-line configuration with a parallel port and it can display up to 20 characters per line. It has 8 KB RAM and 110 to 120 Volts AC input power. The 2706-B11J8 Message Display is designed to receive slave addresses, message triggers, and variable data from an SLC or PLC module.

This module has a built-in RS-422 port for file transfer and an RS-232 port for file upload and download. It displays a wide variety of symbols and characters readable up to 30 feet away. It must be mounted in a panel or enclosure with NEMA Type 12,13 rating before wiring it to the control system.

The 2706-B11J8 Message Display has various capabilities such as dynamic message chaining, invisible messages, and data trigger modes. Parallel data lines allow it to accept 5 to 30 Volts DC and 120 Volts AC input signals. It performs self-testing and diagnostics during power on and has autorun features. Messages can be configured or entered manually by attaching an external keyboard. The 2706-B11J8 has a real-time clock that keeps the current date and time and it can also create a backup and record the occurrence and sequence of message triggers. External devices such as printers, slave displays, and alarms can be connected as required. The 2706-B11J8 Message Display is capable of effectively delivering alarms and messages in an industrial environment.

The 2706-B11J8 is capable of displaying combination of characters to properly convey the intended message to the operator. It can display letters in Uppercase and Lowercase, Punctuation Marks, and symbols that correspond to ASCII character set. Specifically, it can display 127 ASCII characters.

The 2706-B11J8 can be programmed using a variety of tools. Configuration can be done using the Allen-Bradley keyboard with catalog number 2706-NK1 or 2706-NK2, via a computer RS232 terminal, Allen-Bradley industrial terminals, and DEC VT series terminals.

The 2706-B11J8 can operate as an addressable master, allowing connection of up to 100 DL20 device using a single RS422 port. It may also work as a Slave mode master which displays ASCII strings sent by the partner controller.

The 2706-B11J8 comes with a RS232 and Rs422 communication port which is used for connecting to partner devices and programming terminals.
