The Allen-Bradley 2706-B13J16 is a Dataliner DL20 message display with a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) and a dimension of 14.4 x 14.4 inches. It is available in a one-line configuration with a parallel port and it can display up to 16 characters per line. It has 16 KB of RAM and 110 to 120 Volts AC input power. The 2706-B13J16 is designed to receive slave addresses, message triggers, and variable data from an SLC or PLC module. For communication, it has an RS-422 port for file transfer and an RS-232 port for file upload and download. It displays a wide variety of symbols and characters readable up to 25 feet away. It supports offline programming software to create and edit application files. It is mounted in a panel or enclosure with a NEMA Type 12,13 rating then wired to the control system.
The 2706-B13J16 message display has various capabilities such as dynamic message chaining, invisible messages, and data trigger modes. Parallel data lines allow it to accept 5 to 30 Volts DC or 120 Volts AC input signals. It performs self-testing and diagnostics during power-on and has autorun features. Messages can be configured or entered manually by attaching an external keyboard, CRT monitor, or any extra terminal. The 2706-B13J16 display also has a real-time clock that keeps the current date and time. It can also create a backup and record the occurrence and sequence of triggered messages. External devices such as printers, slave displays, and alarms can be connected as required.

The DataLiner family features the DL5, DL10, DL20, DL30, DL40, DL40P, and DL50 marquee product lines. These products feature Vacuum Fluorescent, Red, or Tri-Color displays with from 1 to 5 lines of characters. There are parallel ports that provide both RS-232 and RS-485 communication.
