The Allen-Bradley 2706-B43J16 DL20 data liner display terminal is a message display device and a member of the DL20 family with 16 KB battery-backed RAM for messages. It also has a VFD dot matrix four-line display with 20 characters per line. It has upper and lower-case symbols and punctuation characters with a character length of 0.5 inches that remain visible even at 25 feet from the display. The 2706-B43J16 has an input rating of 85 to 264 Volts AC voltage range at 47 to 63 Hertz and an apparent power of 45VA at 85 Volts AC. Additionally, it is designed with an MDL type fuse with 1.25 Amps, 250 Volts AC fuse rating and a GMC fuse type with a fuse rating of 1.5 Amps and 250 Volts AC.

The 2706-B43J16 is programmed offline using the Menu-Drive offline programming package through a computer or a keyboard linked through RS-232 and RS-422 serial ports with a selectable communication rate of 300, 1200, and 9600. The 2706-B43J16 has a parallel port which possesses 2 strobe inputs and 10 data input lines with a data input voltage of 5 to 30 Volts DC. The serial and parallel port cannot be used simultaneously but must be selected one at a time using a DIP-configured switch. It has a functional temperature limit of 140 degrees Fahrenheit at a 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity limit. It has dimensions of 6.2 x 14.4 x 7.4 inches and weighs approximately 12 pounds.
