The 2706-D21J2 DL5 Data Liner Display by Allen-Bradley is an interactive message display terminal with a single line display terminal and a display size of 16 uppercase-only, alpha-numeric characters, with 2KB of EEPROM which can store up to 94 message blocks. It has a 14-segment Vacuum Fluorescence Display (VFD) with a maximum viewing display distance of 3 meters (10 feet). The 2706-D21J2 is powered by a DC power supply, and it has a voltage rating of 12 to 24 Volts DC, with a 3W minimum power and 5% ripple in input voltage. It has an operational and inrush current of 250mA (300mA inrush) at 12 Volts DC, and 125mA (300mA inrush) at 24 Volts DC. The 2706-D21J2 DL5 has 2 distinct ports, which cannot be simultaneously operated but can be switched to either of the two (parallel and serial port) via a DIP switch. The 2706-D21J2 is capable of storing messages from the unit’s resident memory area. Appropriate messages displayed by the DL5 terminal are due to the received commands from the connected control system which serve as the corresponding message trigger. These messages can be designed to show operation status and condition, troubleshooting guide, or operator prompts.

The 2706-D21J2 can display Two (2) lines of display with Sixteen (16) characters per line. The 2706-D21J2 DL5 can be programmed using the Allen-Bradley industrial terminals, DTE type or dumb terminals, DEC VT100 and VT101 terminals. Each display lines capable of up to 16 characters can be configured to display Uppercase letters, and Punctuation marks.

The 2706-D21J2 mainly features Serial or Parallel Triggering. Messages configured within the DL5 terminal may be triggered by sending the appropriate trigger through the serial or parallel ports however, these ports do not support simultaneous operation. The trigger type can be defined by configuring the DIP switch located at the back of the DL5 message display terminal. The DL5 message display terminal may also function in numeric mode or binary or BCD mode.

The 2706-D21J2 is externally powered by a DC voltage supply ranging from 12-24VDC while 5-24VDC can be accepted by the embedded parallel port.
