The 2707-L8P2 is an operator interface panel and controller manufactured by Allen-Bradley, which allows an operator to process, monitor, and manipulate data on the shop floor itself. The 2707-L8P2 is a part of the DTAM Plus series of components. It has an LCD display of 4 lines and 20 characters, 25 function keys, an 8K memory, and one RS-232/485 communication port which allows it to be connected to a PLC or SLC controller. The connection can be established as a network, a point-to-point mode, or a remote I/O. The function keys also contain an LED indicator to indicate whether the unit is functioning properly or has a malfunction. If a malfunction occurs, a yellow light will flash until an operator acknowledges the alarm. The 2707-L8P2 also features a recipe function on its screen that allows the user to write multiple controller addresses in a single operation. Data can be displayed on screen both in digits and graphical format, for the convenience of the operator. In addition to this, a 6-position DIP switch is provided at the back of the module which is accessible via a removable cover. This switch allows a user to select operating settings.
When installing the 2707-L8P2 operator interface panel unit, it is essential that it be mounted either on a panel or in an enclosure, in order to protect the module’s circuitry. While installing, a proper amount of space must be provided for ventilation to keep the device between the operating temperatures of 0 and 45 degrees Celsius. The unit is fixed using six self-locking nuts, tightened to no more than 8 to 10 pounds on an inch. The power supply to the unit is in the range of 85 to 265 Volts AC with a refresh rate of 47 to 440 Hertz or 110 to 300 Volts DC. While supplying power to the device, AWG #16 or #14 stranded wires must be used. Correct grounding of the unit is also important, so as not to lead to noises due to electromagnetic interference. The 2707-L8P2, like other DTAM Plus devices, comes with default DH-485 application file. To develop other applications, an offline computer with DTAM Programming Software must be used.
The Allen Bradley DTAM Plus displays are ideal for broadband communication over the factory and warehouse floor. It features a RS-232C, RS-485 port which allows it to interface with Allen-Bradley PLC and SLC controller product lines. The Point-Access Function provides a way to monitor and revise data files in SLC or PLC controllers. The DTAM Micro allows for easy modification of data blocks with its recipe type functions. It also has a 1.0 x 3.0 LCD (Yellow LED) Display and a 8K memory capatability.
