The 2711-T10G8 is a terminal in the Allen-Bradley PanelView 1000 series. It is a touchscreen module with 384 touch cells for easy information input. The 2711-T10G8 measures 282x 370x 112 millimeters (11.11x 14.58 x 4.40 inches) in body dimension and 211x 158 millimeters (8.3 x 6.2 inches) in the gray-scale display area. Moreover, the touchscreen terminal has Data Highway Plus (DH+) and RS-232 ports which make communication and printing easy. The 2711-T10G8 has a nonvolatile memory and RAM for storing data, files, and other applications. The terminal’s enclosure is a durable NEMA Type 12/13 or 4X enclosure rated for indoor use. In addition, it can run on AC power between 85 and 264 volts.

With the 10.-1-inch grayscale colored display, operator and plant personnel may view the process mimic in black and white color. Additionally, control such as starting and stopping of process and instruments, data manipulation and navigation is accomplished via the embedded analog resistive touchscreen. Using the touch input interface, operators may interact to the process directly by simply actuating or touching the specific runtime object.

The 2711-T10G8 has a Data Highway Plus (DH+) communication interface that is compatible for networked topology. DH+ is a legacy communication protocol, mainly supported by Allen-Bradley’s PLC5 and SLC500 controllers. CompactLogix and ControlLogix controllers also support this protocol by with the use of DHRIO modules and encompass partner adapters. Additionally, the 2711-T10G3 has a single RS232 interface, used mainly for communication with alarm and events printers for documentation and historization. The 2711-T10G8 requires a power supply input voltage range of 85-264VAC. It is also provided with testing and debugging functions and supports configuration of the HMI application without the need of the actual hardware.
