The 2711-K5A5 Human Machine Interface (HMI) hardware belongs to the Allen-Bradley Bulletin 2711 PanelView Standard Operator Terminals. This PanelView terminal features a cost-effective and compact solution for implementation of real-time and accurate monitoring and control station of the process or machine. It easily connects to a wide variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) including the Allen-Bradley PLC5, SLC500, CompactLogix, MicroLogix and ControlLogix controllers.

The 2711-K5A5 Human Machine Interface (HMI) is capable of connecting single or multiple processes however, ideally used for small applications as it has a 5.5-inch screen with display area of 120 x 60 mm (4.75 x 2.38 in.) and resolution of 256 x 128. Control is implemented using the keypad assembly which features Ten (10) function keys that can be assigned with local and global variables. It also has numeric and navigation keys that are used to enter variables and select objects, icons and move from one screen to another.

This HMI device communicates with partner automation devices through the embedded RS232 serial port that is compatible with DH485 communication protocol. For networked connections, this embedded communication port may be partnered with Allen-Bradley network interface cards.

The 2711-K5A5 is installed in horizontal orientation flush mounted to an enclosure that provides adequate protection against combustible gases, dust dirt and ingress of water. The PanelView 550 2711-K5A5 by Allen Bradley is an operator panel equipped with a 5.5 inch LCD display screen with monochrome screen color. The exact screen dimensions of this unit are 256x128 pixels. The user can control and command this unit using the built-in keys from F1 to F10. This series has an embedded RS232 port that is compatible for DH485 communication. It is powered by an external voltage supply of 85 to 265 VAC. It has a Replaceable display backlights with compatible replacement of 2711-NL1.

Its maximum operating temperature is to 55 Degree Celsius and while the minimum operating temperature is 0 degrees Celsius. It enables user customization with Removable function key legends. One of the 2711- K5A5 is that it offers screen security and can easily secure the application screens with the help of a user-generated password and up to 16 passwords can be utilized per application. The 2711-K5A5 provides effective point to point communications to SLC 5//03 or 5//04 processors with the help of an RS-232 communication cable, and an Extensive Alarm handling system with configurable alarm date and time, pop-up alarm banners, and alarm history. It has an IP rating of IP54 and IP65.
