The 2711-K9C1 is an Allen-Bradley PanelView Standard Operator Terminal. This operator terminal is specifically part of the sub-component PanelView 900 operator terminals. This device is essentially a Process visualization component that is widely known as Human Machine Interface (HMI) device.

The 2711-K9C1 provides real-time monitoring to the process via the provide colored 9-inch display screen that delivers a resolution of 640 x 400 along the display area of 210 x 131 mm (8.27 x 5.17 in.). It comes with an LCD backlight that is estimated to operate up to 100,000 hr. Control of process is initiated via the provided keypad assembly that is composed of Sixteen (16) function keys, numeric and navigational keys. These buttons are designed to operate up to 1 million actuation and may be installed with function key legend inserts. Among these buttons, only the functions are fully programmable and capable of being assigned with global and local variables.

The 2711-K9C1 is ideal for medium applications and implementation of color-coded graphic displays. Colored animations may depict additional information such as state of alarm of devices as well as convey severity at the same time. It may also be configured to depict a local color scheme to provide information about the location, material present in a certain location of the process.

The 2711-K9C1 comes with a Remote I/O communication (RIO) communication ports that is capable of being installed in multiple node communication following daisy-chain topology and RS485 standard. The secondary port which is the RS232 communication interface is used to implement communication between an alarm printer for documentation and historization of alarm reports and events.

This Human Machine Interface (HMI) device features an AC input rating of 110VA, and an input voltage of 85 to 264 Volts AC at 47 to 63 Hertz. It makes controlling and monitoring the machine function easy with its keypads and display screen. It displays information to users graphically through the 9-inch color screen with a 640 x 480 pixels resolution and 171 x 130 millimeters (6.73 x 5.12 inches) display dimensions. The display screen has a Cold Cathode Fluorescent (CCF) backlight and it uses colored indicator lights to display the COMM and FAULT status of the machine. The user can input application information through the keypad with its 16 function keys for initiating display functions and navigational cursor keys for selecting and changing the modes displayed on the screen.

The 2711-K9C1 also uses the numerical keys for numerical and decimal user’s inputs. Connections to the PLC, Logix Controller, and a computer is achieved via a direct link through the RS-232 communication port. It supports an external memory card slot and can print out information through the RS-232 printer port. The 2711-K9C1 has an operational temperature range between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius (32 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit) and 95% non-condensing relative humidity limit. It can withstand an operational shock rate of 15G and a vibration of 1G at 2,000 Hertz. It weighs 3.18 kilograms (7.0 pounds) and has total dimensions of 249x 406x 112 millimeters (9.80x 15.97x 4.40 inches).
