The Control Techniques SM-Encoder Plus is an encoder module adapted for various incremental encoders, specifically types Ab, Fd, and Fr. With a formidable maximum input frequency reaching up to 500 kHz, this product is tailored for dynamic applications. It provides several supply voltage options, namely 5V, 8V, or 15V, allowing for versatile operational setups.

It can simulate several encoder output types, including quadrature, directional frequency signals, and marker lock modes, expanding its functionality in diverse operational environments. The maximum lines per revolution supported by the encoder module is an impressive 16,384, allowing for detailed position encoding that ensures accuracy in feedback.

This encoder module is engineered for compatibility with Unidrive SP and Digitax ST drives. The feedback signals transmitted include the A, B, and Z signals and their corresponding complements, enhancing the feedback mechanisms for various drive tasks.

For greater precision during operation, the SM-Encoder Plus features a freeze function, which can effectively lock position data when needed. Additionally, the module includes easily configurable termination resistors to support encoder input connections. Options for galvanic isolation are also available, providing either separation between the motor and encoder or ensuring safety in operational conditions.

Installation is straightforward, as it fits into designated slots on compatible drives, such as Slot 1 corresponding to Menu 15. In terms of environmental specifications, the encoder module is rated for operation at altitudes of 1000 meters, with the capability of functioning at elevations up to 3000 meters, albeit with derating.
