The Eaton Cutler-Hammer HVX040A2-4A1B1 is an HVX9000 adjustable frequency drive that is part of the HVAC drive series with a 40 HP rating and 380 to 500V AC voltage rating, with a nominal of 480V AC. The voltage tolerance of this drive is -15% and +10% and its output voltage range is from 0 to the rated input voltage of the drive. Frequencies of the HVX040A2-4A1B1 drive are 50/60 Hz for its input frequency, with a frequency variation of 45 to 66 Hz, and with 0 to 320 Hz for the output frequency. This controller also has a 0.1 Hz frequency resolution.

This NEMA Type 12 enclosed drive comes with an internal brake chopper circuit and standard boards, as well as an input option of three-phase, EMC H. Installed on the FR6 frame size drive, is a backlit LCD dedicated to its RUN status, 9 status indicators for the RUN status, an alphanumeric display featuring a keypad input with DRIVE/BYPASS selector and HAND/OFF/AUTO selector (specifically for the modes of operation), 2 control source indicators, and 9 pushbuttons. Operators can also view up to three monitored parameters simultaneously with the HVX040A2-4A1B1 drive. There are several protection features included with the HVX040A2-4A1B1 drive and some of them are protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, motor overload, short circuit, input phase, overtemperature, motor stall, motor underload, and earth fault. It also comes with two control methods operators can use for their applications and these are frequency vector control (V/f), open loop, and sensorless vector control. Applications suitable for this drive include HVAC, pump, and fluid control.
