The SPX500A0-4A2N1 adjustable frequency drive is an SPX9000 AC drive manufactured by Eaton. It is a 500 Horsepower (315 kilowatts) rated heavy-duty industrial device that is responsible for the 3-phase induction motor speed control. The SPX500A0-4A2N1 drive accepts 380 to 500 Volts AC voltage at the input terminals. It is a compact AC drive that is fan-cooled and that is delivered in an open housing with a keypad for data and parameter input. The drive implements the SPX open-loop sensorless vector control or standard Volts per Hertz control method. Users can parameterize the behavior of the unit and its components over the keypad and with the programming menu. One of the advanced functions that is user-selectable on the drive is the fan activation function. The fan can be set to operate at all times when the device is active with an internal temperature over 60 degrees Celsius, based on the IGBT calculated temperature, or continuously after the first start command is given.
