The SPX700A0-4A2N1 adjustable frequency AC drive is advanced energy management and motor speed control device manufactured by Eaton. It is connected to 700 Horsepower rated 3-phase AC motors to control their starting and reference their speed tracking. The SPX700A0-4A2N1 drive is a part of the Eaton SPX9000 series of industry-leading AC drive solutions that are globally used. The SPX700A0-4A2N1 drive incorporates the sensorless vector control algorithms that are used in various industrial systems all over the world. This AC drive supports motor speed control from simple local applications that need only the Volts per Hertz control mode to large global enterprise applications that require automation network communication and advanced signal processing to operate.

The SPX700A0-4A2N1 drive is an IP 00 (open housing) protected device that needs a well-ventilated environment because it dissipates around 12.5 kilowatts of heat.  It has a wide operating temperature range, but it should not be subjected to extreme temperatures (higher than 50 degrees Celsius). The drive supports multi-motor connections, and all of these motors should be connected to it over shielded cables to decrease signal interference. The input voltage for this unit must be between 380 Volts and 500 Volts AC (3-phase, at 50 to 60 Hertz). The parameters of the drive are entered through a keypad or by PC software. The parameters of the drive can be uploaded to the keypad and then copied into other SPX9000 series drives to speed up commissioning processes in plants that have numerous Eaton drives installed. All SPX9000 drives support closed-loop control, but to enable it, the users must acquire one additional optional card for feedback signal processing.
