The GE Fanuc Field Control IC670CBL002 Base Connection Cable is an optional piece of wiring with a length of 54.61 centimeters (21 inches) that is used to interconnect GE Fanuc terminal blocks that are using keyed terminals to each other. It has been manufactured by GE Fanuc as an extension kit to address the common problem of interconnecting 2 terminal blocks that are located further apart on the same panelboard than those in the standard set up usually are. Only one of these IC670CBL002 Base Connection Cables is allowed per GE Fanuc Field Control station because of the different electrical characteristics of the longer cables and the shorter ones.



 



The GE Fanuc IC670CBL002 Base Connection Cable comes pre-assembled from the factory, with keyed connectors designed to make an erroneous connection impossible. It can be used to interconnect 2 GE Fanuc Terminal Blocks to one another or a single GE Fanuc Terminal Block to its corresponding BIU (Bus Interface Unit). The GE Fanuc IC670CBL002 Base Connection Cable comes with a braided ground wire which is meant to be used as an ESD protection measure. This cable must be connected to zero voltage at both ends (ground or chassis) to provide effective immunity against electrical interference or external noise. This 21-inch expansion cable should be installed so as not to interrupt the flow of data between modules and to respect the connection polarity of each of the bases. If the cable is connected to the top connector of one base, then it should be plugged into the bottom connector of the next base.
