The Field Control IC670MFP100 Micro Field Processor is manufactured by GE Fanuc in the Field Control product line. It offers local input and output logic in a field control station which has a bus interface unit and up to 8 modules. This MFP module supports up to 7 I/O modules. It is compatible for use with the Logicmaster 90-30/20/Micro software, the IC693PRG300 hand-held programmer, the BIU firmware version 2.0, and the Series 90 communication protocols. It consists of a central processing unit and backplane circuitry for communication. The CPU of the module contains an H8/3003 microprocessor and a non-volatile user flash memory with 6K words of storage. The CMOS RAM of the CPU is equipped with a capacitor that provides data retention in the event of a power failure.

The IC670MFP100 Micro Field Processor has standard field control connectors, a 15-pin D-type female connector for the CPU series port, and 4 status indicator LEDs to visually indicate the CPU and I/O status. The typical scan rate of the CPU is 1.0 ms/K of logic. Some of the features of this micro field processor module include an alarm processor function, password protection for the PLC content, and a built-in communication port which supports the Series 90 protocols. The field control backplane supplies the required power to the MFP module without the need of any other power connections. The IC670MFP100 Micro Field Processor can be installed on the field control terminal block and it can be mounted in any orientation on the DIN rail and in any slot on the stick except the slot reserved for the BIU. It is essential to use an IBM or IBM-compatible PC to install the configuration software of the module.
