The IC660BBA021 is a Genius I/O block. This hardware is a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) input block that is externally powered by a supply voltage range of 24/48 VDC. This I/O block is equipped with Six (6) input channels with channel grouping composed of Three (3) groups of Two (2) channels per group with each channel having an update frequency of Once every 400ms, 800ms, or 1600ms and Input filter ranges per block of 400ms, 800ms, 1600ms.
This RTD I/O block is ideally used for temperature applications as RTD sensors are especially used for measuring temperature. Additionally, this I/O block is capable of receiving resistance input range of 0-5000 Ohms from transducers and other instruments. This module is compatible with RTD sensors such as Platinum, Copper and Nickel RTDs. It is equipped with built-in Linearization and signal conditioning which enable this module to transfer an appropriately conditioned input data to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) in the form of engineering units and reported in tenths of degrees Celsius, degrees Fahrenheit, Ohms, or counts.
Alarm thresholds, Alpha type and input filter time may also be configured with the IC660BBA021 Genius I/O Block. It is factory calibrated and does not require re-calibration during the module’s operational lifespan. Additionally, the IC660BBA021 is equipped with diagnostic functions including Input Short detection, Internal Fault detection, Wiring Error detection, Open Wire detection, Overrange and Underrange input indication, and High and Low input alarms. These faults support inhibition wherein, it may not be reported to the CPU hence, not forwarded to the CPU diagnostic buffer.
The IC660BBA021 RTD Input Block is factory-calibrated to ensure accurate performance while reducing the need for frequent subsequent recalibrations. It also offers some additional features such as alarm thresholds, input filter time, and linearization. The maximum heat dissipation rating of the module is 7 Watts. It also has 0 to 5000 Ohms of resistance measurement. The inputs of the module update once every 400 milliseconds, 800 milliseconds, and 1600 milliseconds. Some of the diagnostic facilities of the IC660BBA021 RTD Input Block include input short detection, wiring error detection, and overrange and under range input indication. The users can disable diagnostic messages for any of the selected active inputs. Disabling the diagnostic messages will stop messages from being sent to the CPU. However, the users may still get diagnostic messages sent to the hand-held monitor. During installation, make sure to mount the module in a proper enclosure while considering the space that is needed for proper cooling.
