The GE Fanuc Genius I/O block with catalog number IC660BBA101 is a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) module that feature Six (6) input circuits with Three (3) groups of Two (2) circuits each. Being an RTD block I/O module, this module is used for temperature applications as RTD sensors are typically used to measure temperatures. Additionally, this module is capable of accepting resistance input with range of 0 to 5000 Ohms.

The IC660BBA101 RTD block I/O supports RTD sensors such as Platinum, Copper and Nickel RTDs. Linearization and signal conditioning is embedded with the RTD block I/O and transferred to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) in engineering units. It is reported in tenths of degrees Celsius, degrees Fahrenheit, Ohms, or counts. Additionally, the IC660BBA101 RTD block I/O is capable of being configured with Alarm thresholds, Alpha type and input filter time. This RTD Block I/O is factory calibrated hence, re-calibration is not needed during the device’ course of operation.

The IC660BBA101 is also equipped with a variety of diagnostic function such as Input Short detection, Internal Fault detection, Wiring Error detection, Open Wire detection, Overrange and Underrange input indication, and High and Low input alarms. Fault occurrence may be automatically reported or disabled per channel.

The IC660BBA101 has resolution of 0.1 Degree Celsius with absolute accuracy of +/-0.5 °C typical, +/-1.0°C maximum for Platinum or Nickel and +/-5°C typical, +/-10°C maximum for 10W Copper. It has a software configurable update frequency of Once every 400ms, 800ms, or 1600ms and Input filter ranges per block of 400ms, 800ms, 1600ms.

The IC660BBA101 RTD Input Block has 2 LEDs to indicate the operating status of the module, so when a fault occurs, the Unit OK LED starts blinking. The IC660BBA101 RTD Input Block has automatic diagnostic facilities to diagnose the installation errors and run-time errors such as internal fault detection, open-wire detection, and high and low input alarms. For example, if one or more input readings is out of the tolerance range, the internal fault detection facilities inform the CPU. It also provides low and high alarm thresholds to set the limits for specific input channels. The dimensions of the module are 8.83 x 3.34 x 3.91 inches and weighs 4 pounds. In order to use input devices, the RTD must be connected to the RTN and SIG terminals of the input devices. The handheld monitor allows the users to configure parameters such as the active channel, fault reports, input filter time, and engineering unit parameters. Inside the block, there is an optocoupler that isolates the clock signal and control signal. The IC660BBA101 RTD Input Block can be mounted upside down with 2 inches of space on all sides for proper cooling.
