The GE Fanuc IC660BLC003 cable is a prefabricated cable with mating connectors that measures 36 inches. The IC660BLC003 cable is a Belden 9182 cable which is used for the wiring between I/O blocks. When the IC660BLC003 cable is used to connect I/O blocks, the cable should be attached to the first or last block so that it can exit toward the top of the block. Furthermore, a 150-Ohm terminating plug should be installed at Serial Port 1 and Serial Port 2 with the IC660BLC003 cable. The method recommended by GE Fanuc for connecting the bus to I/O blocks is to wire them directly to the terminal assembly on the block. Such bus connections are usually deemed permanent. Bus connections should not be removed while the system is operating because the resulting data errors could case hazardous control conditions.
The bus should be switched off before anything is removed because the removal of the terminal assembly on a block could lead to breaking the bus continuity. If the bus is controlling critical processes that must not be shut down, then the wiring of the blocks can be done through an intermediate connector. This procedure allows the terminal assembly on the bus to be removed and at the same time enables the maintenance of the data integrity. During the removal of the terminal assembly, the wire ends should be covered with tape to prevent shorting between different wires and between wires and the ground. The operating temperature rating of Genius I/O blocks is up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
